Original Question:Â What is the ruling on shops selling cigarettes when cigarettes are haram? Are things that are haram allowed to be sold in Islam? #
Based on MUIS’s fatwa, issued on April 20, 2006, smoking cigarettes is prohibited because the harm on the smoker and the people around him is clear and definite.
All in all, it is forbidden to buy or sell goods that are viewed as haram in Islam.
This is based on our beloved Prophet (ï·º) saying:”When Allah (SWT) decrees a thing forbidden for the people, He also decrees its price forbidden for them”.
