Original Question: Sometimes the seller will say “I sell” and sometimes the buyer will say “I buy” before the seller says his part. Is there an order of who should say it first?

There is no exact sequence of who should say it first. The seller can say it after the item has been packaged and the buyer can also say it before that.

It’s usually the older generations who would be saying this compared to the younger generation which may be due to a lack of understanding on fiqh muamalat.

It’s still an obligation to say it but some scholars mentioned that the transaction is still valid if the items are very cheap such as salt, chocolate etc.
