FAQ #110: Is it permissible for financial planners to propose non-shariah-compliant funds to clients with lower risk appetites?

Original question: The funds that are shariah-compliant for Investment linked policies are usually for those with higher risk appetites, can we propose suitable funds that are non shariah compliant to those with a lower risk appetite, can a financial planner then propose suitable funds that are non shariah compliant to those with a lower risk appetite?

If you have the option to offer shariah compliant funds, then it’s the default offering, since you know the severity of interest (riba).

If the client is Muslim, you explained the shariah compliant products but still he or she does not want that fund and goes for the shariah compliant fund, we can hopefully convince him one day to go to the shariah compliant funds
