Theme: Business Etiquette in Islam
It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin al-Aas ( ) said that:
“Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) cursed the one who bribes and the one who takes bribes”.

As Muslims, we should abstain from any act of corruption, such as bribery. Bribery is an act to invalidate a right or validate a falsehood by giving “gifts”.
Many daily situations challenge our integrity and ethical judgement, from as simple as skipping a queu to using our status to give an undue advantage to another party for personal benefits.
Our beloved prophet warns that those who engage in bribery are cursed and barred from Allah’s mercy. In Surah Al-Baqarah verse 188, Allah SWT mentions, “Do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly, nor deliberately bribe authorities in order to devour a portion of others’ property, knowing that it is a sin”.
May Allah protects us from being involved with bribery, and may we be amongst those who uphold integrity in all situations of our life.
