Profile of Prof. Dr. Hikmatullah Babu Sahib: Director of Takaful Academy and Expert in Islamic Jurisprudence

Prof. Dr. Hikmatullah Babu Sahib is currently the Director of Takaful Academy at Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah, Perak Darul Ridzuan, Malaysia. Prior to this he was with the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) from 2002 to 2016 and was a Visiting Professor at Prince of Songkhla University (PSU), Pattani Campus, Thailand, from 2017 to 2018. Between 2018 to 2020 he was back in IIUM as an Academic Fellow. Dr Sahib holds a Doctorate degree in Comparative Islamic Jurisprudence (1995) from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and has a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Islamic Metaphysics (2001) from Yale University. Dr Sahib was a Shariah Advisor to a number of organisations in the past including advising Standard Chartered Saadiq from 2005 to 2019.
